Cozumel

Hey guys we're back again! This time we are in Cozumel, Mexico. Cozumel is a beautiful island in the southeast corner of Mexico. It faces the Carribean Sea to the east and the state of Quintana Roo to the west. Quintana Roo is also part of the Yucatan peninsula. A peninsula is a large piece of land that sticks out into the sea. An island is a piece of land that is completely surrounded by water. So come along and check out our pictures. We think you will find them very interesting.

We couldn't believe the color of the sand. It was very white and very soft. This is Playa del Carmen. It is across from Cozumel. We took a ferry to get there.  A ferry is a ship that serves as a taxi at sea. It takes people from place to place. This place is also called the Riviera Maya.

Here's a video of a stingray:

Marcos wanted to do his own video like The Most Interesting Man in the World. He came up with this:

We took a picture with this monkey in Playa del Carmen. This little monkey is from Brazil. Part of the money that we paid to take a picture with this monkey goes to programs that help them survive in the Amazon.

These guys were all over our hotel grounds. They especially liked to hang around the building we were staying in. These iguanas were bigger than cats. We fed them flowers that grew all around the hotel. They loved eating them. We also saw geckos and crabs near our room. We actually did see a gecko inside our hotel room.

Meet my new friend Marte. Marte means Mars in Spanish. Marte is giving me a kiss. He also sang a song for me and Marcos. This was the most exciting thing to do at Chankanaab Park.

Marcos dancing with Shadia. The marine biologist told us that dolphins live up to fifty years in captivity and between twenty and thirty years in the wild.

Having loads of fun at Chankanaab Park. Chankanaab means "little sea" in the Mayan language.

Walking through what is left of a Mayan building. Behind this building is a very thick jungle.

This is a Mayan stone serpent head in Chankanaab Park. The Mayas believed that snakes were sacred.
Better behave or the spirit of Kukulcan will come for you.

Here we are at a restaurant in Chankanaab Park in Cozumel. Even the food tastes better by the sea.

                                                             Another day in paradise.

Can't beat this beach. Absolutely beautiful!

There is no way I'm going to sink today!

                                                          Our beach in Cozumel.

Nacho Libre y el Esqueleto. "We are going to get back the Lords chiiips!"

This was my favorite slide in the kids pool. It was a giant bird. It was big enough for me.

This was the kids pool at our hotel. This giant pirate would get mad and let out tons of water on us. It was so much fun. I think Marcos was afraid of it because he would run the other way. Not me, I was always in the middle of all the action. You can see me at the bottom left staircase.

Well, another trip has come and gone. We had lots of fun. We also learned many new things about the Mayan people and about wildlife in Cozumel. Next time we come we are going to go snorkeling. Stay tuned for our next posting which will be in March of 2011. See you then.

So now we can say we have been from the Yukon to the Yucatan. The world is ours.

Thank you for sharing your adventures. These are some awesome pictures. My favorites where the ones with Shadia the dolphin and when you are posing like Nacho Libre and Esqueleto. I laughed out loud. The zip lining videos were very cool. You both are very lucky to have parents that take you on some cool vacations. You made my Disneyland vacation look boring. Keep me posted on where your next adventure will be.
